Murder Victim Found on Bike Trail

Sacramento police responded Thursday morning to the Campus Commons neighborhood where the body of a man killed by gunfire was found in thick brush.

Police responded to the area in the 7900 block of La Riviera Drive about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday for reports of shots being fired. When officers searched the area near Howe Avenue and La Riviera Drive they failed to find anything suspicious.

The department received another call at 10:24 a.m. Thursday when a passerby found a body under the Howe Avenue Bridge along the American River bike trail in the general vicinity where the shots had been heard the night before. The dead man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
