State Nonprofit Conservancy or Independent Nonprofit Conservancy

The idea reported in this article from the Sacramento Bee http://www.sacbee.com/opinion/editorials/article39540750.html came during our organization presenting to the County Board of Supervisors October 6, 2015, the concept we have been discussing for years, management of the Parkway by an independent nonprofit contracting with the County.

Kris Lea has already formed this nonprofit, American River Parkway Conservancy, as we reported in our recent blog post at https://riverparkwayblog.wordpress.com/2015/10/07/kris-lea-of-arpps-creates-new-parkway-conservancy/

The concept proposed by the Assemblyman is for a State Conservancy where much of the control would emanate from the State, who would be providing the bulk of the money.

Money good, control bad.

Our proposal would retain local control.
